Description

The Arènes de Lutèce are among the most important remains from the Gallo-Roman era in Paris (formerly known as Lutèce in French or Lutetia in Latin), together with the Thermes de Cluny. Lying in what is now the Quartier Latin, this amphitheater could once seat 15,000 people, and was used to present gladiatorial combats.

Good

A historical place not very well known, probably the only remaining? roman ruin in Paris. Now it is a park open the public, a nice place to go and eat a hurried lunch in the quiet. It's also a place for children to play (the centre of the arena is an open space free for kicking round a ball for example. [more]

L'un des seuls vestiges restants du passé Gallo-Romain de Paris qui répondait alors au nom de Lutèce. Construites au 1er siècle, ces arènes restèrent en activité jusqu'au 3ème siècle avant d'être en grande partie détruite.
